Leeds has opened talks with RB Leipzig about updating Kalvin Phillips through American midfielder Tyler Adams, according to reports. The Merengues are set to upgrade star player Phillips after the Englishman joined Manchester City on Monday.
Adams has been named as the guy to fill the void left by Phillips, for whom Leeds would have earned £42 million from the Premier League champions. Leeds boss Jesse Marsch worked in the past with Adams when he was head coach of the New York Red. Bulls and Leipzig.
Knowing the head coach, chances are that with a sleek transition, Leeds are looking to upgrade one of their most productive players. And it looks like the Elland Road team is desperate to point the finger at Adams.
Talks have opened with Leipzig about a deal that may cost around £12 million, according to the Daily Mail. Leeds would prefer an initial loan agreement, but is willing to pay the payment upfront to make a permanent transfer.

He later joined the club through Marsch, who replaced Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds. Marsch lasted only 20 games in the Bundesliga before being sacked; he then joined Leeds in February.

The Three Lions star has only played 20 times in the Premier League in 2021-22 and his return in recent weeks coincided with his side’s war of success against relegation. Leeds have already added to their midfield with the addition of Marc Roca from Bayern Munich, but they are keen to continue in midfield and have targeted Adams.
But Leeds, who finished 17th and are hoping for a great 2022-23 campaign, also fear wasting forward star Raphinha. The Brazilian has been connected with signings for Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona.
The La Liga side are widely regarded as Raphinha’s favourite destination, but lately they are suffering from the accumulation of the £65 million valuation that Arsenal and Chelsea offer.
