Lefty Wood joins the Giants on a one-year contract for $3 million

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Left-hander Alex Wood on Thursday agreed to a one-year contract for $3 million with the San Francisco Giants.

Wood, who turned 30 on Tuesday, can earn another $3 million in functionality bonuses for games where he gets 10 or more outs: $125,000 for 12 and 14, $250,000 for 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 and $500,000 for 26. 28 and 30.

An All-Star in 2017, Wood was 0-1 with 6. 39 MPMs in two openings and seven relief appearances last year with The Los Angeles National League West Division rival, withdrawing 15 in 12 2/3 innings.
