SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Left-hander Alex Wood on Thursday agreed to a one-year contract for $3 million with the San Francisco Giants.
Wood, who turned 30 on Tuesday, can earn another $3 million in functionality bonuses for games where he gets 10 or more outs: $125,000 for 12 and 14, $250,000 for 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 and $500,000 for 26. 28 and 30.
An All-Star in 2017, Wood was 0-1 with 6. 39 MPMs in two openings and seven relief appearances last year with The Los Angeles National League West Division rival, withdrawing 15 in 12 2/3 innings. He earned $1,481,481 in prorated salary on a salary of $4 million. He pitched two of the best innings in the Dodgers Victory in Game 6 of the World Series against Tampa Bay.
Wood is 53-44 with 3. 45 MPM in 138 and 50 reliever appearances in 8 seasons with Atlanta (2013-15), Los Angeles-NL (2015-18, 2020) and Cincinnati (2019).
