Former Rossoneri coach Arrigo Sacchi believes Inter Milan have a more individualistic taste for the game and that AC Milan is more of a team.
The former coach gave his opinion on the contrasting styles of the derby rivals in a column published in the print edition of Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
At the beginning of the season, Inter and Milan were the two most prominent teams in Serie A.
The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri are the two groups that have won 3 out of 3 matches.
Both teams on both sides of the derby have scored eight goals in that period. Inter’s Lautaro Martinez leads the scoring charts with a wealth of goals. And Milan striker Olivier Giroud is only the Argentine with four.
In addition, Inter and Milan can boast defensive records.
The Nerazzurri have yet to concede a goal this season and the Rossoneri have conceded two.
But according to Sacchi, a former Milan coach, the two teams have achieved their best record in other respects.
Sacchi writes: “Milan convinced me in the first 3 games. They have played 3, two of them away from home.
Of his former team, Sacchi comments: “They showed new ideas and, most importantly, focused on their own style.
“They didn’t live on unnecessary tactics, but they put their heart on the accelerator to control and dominate the field. “
Sacchi says that “there are still some aspects to improve. “
“Milan have to be competitive in terms of pacts if they want to upset Inter.
“It’s about getting the whole team moving in a compact and organized way,” Sacchi explained. “Eleven men play proactively, with and with the ball. “
“That has to be the goal of Pioli. De otherwise, when Inter move the players forward and the Milan forwards don’t come back, there can be serious problems.
“Because the Nerazzurri know how to be ruthless,” Sacchi writes.
“They have the experience, the quality and the energy. “
“And his defensive solidity,” Sacchi said.
“So this season they haven’t conceded goals yet. They deserve wonderful credit for that.
“The whole team has to be very organised, there has to be communication between players in other positions,” Sacchi wrote of Inter’s strong defensive start.
“You have to admit that Inter are on the counterattack,” he said.
“From what we have seen at the beginning of the season, Inter is focused on the high-quality players that Inzaghi has. “
“Lautaro, of course, is excellent. And also Thuram, who adapted perfectly to his new surroundings.
“And Milan, instead, focuses on their team’s taste in play,” he wrote. “They look for the goal through collective movements. “
“In that sense, the derby will be between two styles. “
