LISBON, Portugal (AP) – Leipzig soon sewed the loss to Paris Saint-Germain and began celebrating their impressive Champions League campaign.
Leipzig’s unforeseen streak ended with a 3-0 loss to PSG in Tuesday’s semi-final, but there is still an explanation for why the young German club is content with its effects this season.
“We played one season, we reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, which is a wonderful achievement,” said Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann. “We are proud of it. We’re frustrated, of course, but we’ll muster a new force before next season.”
At the time of his Champions League appearance, Leipzig qualified for the quarter-finals after knocking out Tottenham last year in the 16th circular and Atletico Madrid, a two-time finalist in recent years, in the quarter-finals.
