Lerentee McCray retires by 2020

The official seven-day window for player rotation has still opened. However, many players have already exercised their retirement privilege.

On Saturday, the Jaguars announced that defensive supporter/finisher Lerentee McCray has to retire for the 2020 season.

“With the physical condition and protection of my circle of relatives in mind, I have made the decision not to take part in the 2020 season in those difficult times in “Our Nation,” McCray said in a statement through the team. “I will miss being there with my teammates, coaches and Jaguar staff competing on Sunday, but I think God has guided my steps to make that decision. I was honored to be a part of our team’s social justice efforts during this off-season, and I look forward to help those affected in every possible way. My circle of family members and I appreciate the understanding and help of organizing Jaguars and our fans. We pray and paint for the health and protection of this wonderful country!

McCray joined the Jaguars in 2017, playing exclusively as a substitute and special team in 35 appearances. In 2018, he captained the special teams.

He signed a one-year contract with the Jaguars before this year. He earned $137,500 with a base salary of $910,000. Your contract will run until 2021.

Another kid keeps going.

Great, now we’re toasting.
