Lewandowski sends Bayern Munich to the DFB-Pokal final

Bayern Munich will face Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal final in Berlin on July 5, after the Bavarian team saw Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 thanks to Robert Lewandowski.

Bayer beat Sarrebruck on Tuesday, finishing the fairy tale race of the fourth department team in the competition.

Two years ago, Eintracht beat their matches at war in the final on Wednesday, but this time Bayern controlled to get the result they needed despite not generating the most productive performance.

Ivan Perisic opened the scoring, with Thiago Alcántara on the bench, Bayern failed to turn their chances into first-half goals.

After the break, it was another story, as the VAR gave Lewandowski the 45th goal of the campaign, his fourth in the competition.

However, there were concerns, as Joshua Kimmich was forced to leave after a stamp left him with a bloodied headbutt in the only negative for Bayern when he reached the final.

Bayern have won 12 doubles in their history, adding 10 since the turn of the century, while no one has won more than their 19 victories.
