Earlier this week, USCfootball. com’s Connor Morrissette (247Sports) asked Lincoln Riley in a media scrum about the temperament around the USC program following a big recruiting weekend. On Sunday, five defensive rookies signed with the Trojans, three of whom were four-star athletes. One of them was five-star prospect Justus Terry, who committed to the Georgia Bulldogs for more than a year.

“I think some of the decisions we’ve made here are valid,” Riley said. “You know, recently, and I think even for you, you know, they have a huge reach, even in the last few years. . . I mean, to have a weekend like we had last weekend, that’s a big deal. I mean, there’s no doubt about it.

Riley credits the grand opening of USC’s new football-only facility and its gathering of elite defensive coaches as catalysts for the obvious shift in top-school recruiting in the class of 2025. “You know, one thing is an idea, but when you come here and you see paintings of structures and you’re down with all those staff members, you kind of see where all those things are going. “

Riley recalled the evolution of USC and its struggles to play football championships consistently over the past decade and a half. He projected where the program is headed.

“It’s not hard to determine the trajectory, and I think more and more people across the country, when they come to our campus, they see it and it’s a reminder that this position is, like what we have to offer kids, ‘It’s different than anywhere else and there’s a lot of things that cash can’t buy,'” Riley said. “It’s a smart reminder, no matter what’s happened in the last 10 or 15 years, man, this is still wonderful. It’s going to be wonderful again, and I think more and more people are seeing it and I think remembering it. The spaces that we wanted (and) want to intensify our efforts, those are things that are happening. . If we keep pushing, weekends like this will continue to happen.

We know USC is going to play a fake offense under Riley. We know that the structure of the sports facilities has begun and will be completed in 2026. If D’Anton Lynn’s defense can mirror what he did last year at UCLA, it’s also more likely that we can count on more recruiting weekends, like last weekend.
