Lionel Messi ended football in 2022, when he guided Argentina to their third World Cup triumph, the first of his career. For him, this was the final piece of the puzzle and he has continued to play foreign football ever since.
Messi left Europe over the summer to join Inter Miami, but despite this, he has not let his remarkable form wane. He also continues to play for the Albiceleste, which has led to suggestions that he could play as a foreigner until the next World Cup in 2026.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino joked that Messi could play much more than that, noting that he could participate in the 2034 World Cup (according to Marca), recently awarded to Saudi Arabia.
“I hope he makes it to the next World Cup, the next one and also the ’34 World Cup. (He plays) as long as he wants.
Messi would be 47 years old when the 2034 edition arrives, so he will not be present in this tournament. However, it is not out of the question that the Barcelona legend will appear at the next World Cup in three years’ time.
Real Betis star rejects claims Jude Bellingham is the player of the aggregate – “As long as Lionel Messi plays. . . »
