Signing Messi would be for any club in the world, while the move itself would be European football as we know it
The Independent employs journalists around the world to provide de facto independent journalism. To help us, please make a contribution.
The effects are already being felt in the game and Lionel Messi hasn’t even moved yet. “Almost all the big clubs” are figuring out what they can do to check it out and buy it. A surprised Barcelonanist is going out to see how he reacts.
Although Messi’s resolve to leave the Camp Nou is clear, what happens next is quite the opposite. We’re more likely to see an unpleasant legal war than what would be the biggest move in football history.
This description can still be implemented in the figure as to the consequences.

Barca has lately insisted that the clause Messi seeks to enact expired on 30 June. They would therefore ask for a purchase of EUR 700 million if I followed this decision. The Argentine aspect is that the extension of the season means that this no longer applies and expires instead on August 31. The most intense discussions are taking up positions lately, maxed out everywhere.
We’ll have to identify that this isn’t just a forced game. Sources from Spain and Argentina insist that Messi must pass even if the unpopular President Josep Bartomeu leaves. This single fact leads to mass renunciations. Barcelona has so disappointed its greatest player of all time that it has taken a resolution that at one point seemed unimaginable. It’s football negligence.
Messi has lately seen no way for Barca to win the Champions League in the short term, in fact not in the years he has left. That’s why, at 33, he still needs to pass out. This European Cup is what you need above all else. This fact will consult everything that will come.
That’s why it can almost in fact a romantic factor, like Newell’s Old Boys or Leeds United, or a miserable factor like joining Xavi in Qatar. He spoke to Inter Miami, but that’s for when he feels his career in Europe is over.
This means that there are only several clubs that can participate, let alone.
European agents working with super clubs told The Independent that everyone would at least pay money. This means that the existing contenders are Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus, Internazionale and … Real Madrid.
As rich in narrative as this last option is, it probably outperforms Barca’s wonderful rivals, and you don’t need to move on to the Bernabeu. Messi would possibly be in the Camp Nou hierarchy, but he doesn’t have to betray the hobby.
Liverpool and Juventus, meanwhile, can investigate if possible, but they will soon realize that this is not the case. So far the concept of pairing Messi and Ronaldo for a definitive schmaltzy dance and the ultimate act of rivalry.
The Ronaldo affair also provides an uplifting narrative for Inter, given Messi’s age and the length of any possible contract. They’re interested, but they’d charge at least 90 million pounds a year to take everything. City, PSG and Chelsea are by far the most productive placed, but that doesn’t mean they would do it comfortably. They’d just feel a chance. United and Bayern would possibly feel similar, but this would not be in sync with the same caution as always.
Roman Abramovich has long sought this signature. Pep Guardiola will publicly say that he needs it, but resources close to Catalan claim that he is aware of winning the Champions League without Messi, and rumours are repeated that his appointments are not so past. Neymar, on the other hand, prefers his wonderful friend to go somewhere else.
The truth is that wherever Messi goes, he will immediately turn them into a team. That’s how smart he is. His move would be European football, so he could be healthier for the game if he came from the wealthiest hopefuls or the dominant clubs.
Its gravitational effect on the game would be as wonderful as it has on any terrain on which you set foot. That’s how huge this story is, the biggest in the game beyond Covid-19.
Just take a look at the immediate effects in Barca. With Carlos Puyol publicly tweeting Messi and the rejection of Luis Suarez that follows, it is actually the open season. You may not have a worse demonstration of a dysfunctional club.
That’s a component of why Messi needs to pass out, which is so bad.
And yet, no matter how surprised Barcelona is, there are some at the club who feel an opportunity of their own. Messi has a gravitational effect on any match, but it also has a gravitational effect on a club’s finances.
Actually, Barca can’t rebuild well with that in the books. His finances are too limited. This can solve this challenge, while suddenly allowing Ronald Koeman to rebuild and only accelerates a challenge they ultimately have to deal with.
“They’re going to have to face life after Messi at some point,” said a source who works with the club. “Everything happens. And the damaging history of Barca fans is that Barca’s DNA has been abused in recent years. Xavi and Iniesta have retired. Neymar’s gone. [Gerard] Piqué has surpassed his best. Dani Alves is gone. At no time can you simply deal with that.
Messi thinks he has to keep doing it. The rest of the game will now have to deal with the effects of that.
