Lions put Julian Okwara on IR, point to DB Chris Jones

The Lions selected at the end defensive Julian Okwara in this year’s third circular in the hope that he would be their defense.

Okwara’s contributions to this level of his rookie year have been limited and it will be some time before he has to make more noise. Lions announced Wednesday that Okwara had been placed on the disabled reserve list.

Okwara played 30 defensive shots in four appearances and injured his leg in front of the Jaguars.

The Lions filled Okwara’s list by recruiting defensive back Chris Jones from his practice squad. Jones played six shots for the Lions last week and has played in thirteen games for the Cardinals in more than two seasons.

In addition to the moves, the Lions also said the defensive ending Austin Bryant would practice on Wednesday. Bryant is on the list that he can’t physically perform and can now be activated at any time.
