South Korea’s first-choice goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu will miss the rest of the Asian Cup with a knee injury.
Kim, 33, took part in his team’s 3-1 win over Bahrain in the first match at the organizational level, but tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee at an educational consultation later that week. Here’s South Korea’s boss, Jurgen Klinsmann:
? “We’re very unhappy about Seung-gyu’s injury, but that’s part of the sport, it happens in tournaments, but we have to move on. We keep it in our minds and fight for it.
“What I told the team is that we are here and that we have a mission, which is to stay until the end of the tournament. “
South Korea is aiming to win its first Asian Cup in years and will face Jordan on Saturday.

There have been strong reports that West Ham have made progress in their attempts to loan Manchester City and England midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Well, Hammers boss David Moyes will speak to the media at 13:30 (GMT) and you think that will be one of the first questions asked. We’ll see if it bites, and we’ll bring in the ones that quote as soon as they materialize.
They’re not the only ones who need to warn Phillips. De fact, it looks like a small queue.

Jordan Henderson may be the city of Amsterdam’s representative after his stint from Al Ettifaq, but the England midfielder will probably have to wait before signing for Ajax.
Henderson has now been a non-EU citizen since the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union in 2020 and as such will need a painting permit before he can play for his new Dutch club.
There would have been no documents delaying his debut before Brexit, which ended freedom of movement for British citizens, and Henderson is expected to be cleared in time for Sunday afternoon’s Eredivisie match against RKC Waalwijk in the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Next Saturday’s match against Heracles is the likely top target for the 33-year-old. Otherwise, it would be PSV Eindhoven’s stopover on Saturday, February 3.
Chuba Akpom, who joined Ajax from Middlesbrough for £11m in August, faced delays when he had to wait to make his first appearance.

It’s been the U-turn of the January window so far: Jordan Henderson finding a way out of Saudi Arabia and signing for Ajax.
Many were content to hand over to Henderson because his summer resolution failed, but his former Liverpool boss believes the complaint would be unfair.
Here’s what Jurgen Klopp had to say this morning, when my colleague James Pearce asked him:
? “We have one life and we have to make decisions. Sometimes our decisions are perfect in the first place and sometimes it feels different after you have made them.
“I spoke to him and 99 per cent of what happened from a football point of view went perfectly well. It’s the beginning of something that has a lot of expansion to do in the future. He never criticized.
“But then he thought it was better for him and his family to return to Europe and now he is at Ajax Amsterdam, a sensational club that is in a difficult moment. “

Here we go then. They are possibly the most anticipated appointments of the day here; There are obviously a limited number of things to say at the moment.
Mo Salah was injured during the first half of Egypt’s 2-2 draw at the Africa Cup of Nations with what appeared to be a sore hamstring.
Here’s what Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said on the 31-year-old’s fitness this morning:
? “We don’t know anything. I spoke with him last night. They are doing further assessments and then we will know more.
“At the time it was a shock. He felt it, and we all know that Mo rarely wants to go, so there is definitely something. I don’t have any more data at this time.

Tomorrow is going to be a big day for Ivan Toney.
The striker will not only return to action after serving his eight-month suspension for 232 breaches of FA rules. His Brentford head coach, Thomas Frank, showed that he was going to start and wear the captain’s armband.
It will be at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday at 5:30 p. m.
The 27-year-old England international is also likely to pop up as a January transfer window topic too, however Frank said this morning Brentford are yet to receive any bids for Toney this month. Sticking a £100m price tag on him may well have helped with that.
You can read more about all this from our correspondent in Brentford, Jay Harris.

Nuno Espirito Santo says the January window will pose a “difficult” challenge for Nottingham Forest.
The head coach believes this window will cause the same upheaval for all Premier League clubs, but he still expects Forest to bring strength and balance to the team he inherited a month ago. Speaking this morning, Nuno said:
? “It’s very complicated. You want to perceive that this is a difficult window to use because usually the goals you want are not available.
“It happens in each and every club; Available players are players who are not in a satisfied moment they are in. It happens to us too, hypotheses that our team leaves because they are not satisfied here or safe cases arise.
“We have to be really careful. What you want is sometimes not what you get.”
The forest will cautiously close the window. They have room for manoeuvre and hope to make two or three signings, but they also want the players to leave to end the month with balanced accounts and show the Premier League that they are taking those profit-loss fees seriously. sustainability.
But with six players called up for the Africa Cup of Nations and at least five ruled out due to injury, Nuno is getting stronger:
? “You have to balance the squad because of the absences and the number of people in the squad. Those are the paintings we make.

Wolves outcast Goncalo Guedes is set to swap Benfica for Villarreal after agreeing to move back to Spain on loan.
The winger, who received £28m from Wolves when he signed from Valencia in the summer of 2022, returned to former club Benfica in January 2023 after failing to move to the Premier League.
He returned to the Portuguese side for a second loan last summer but was frustrated by the lack of time to play.
His move to Villarreal, 15th in La Liga, comes with characteristics or purchase obligations and requires a loan fee, but the Spanish side will cover the 27-year-old’s entire salary.

Adam Lallana will know at the end of the season if he needs to continue his playing career at Brighton.
The former Liverpool and England midfielder has played more than an hour in a game since September in 17 appearances this season in all competitions (including 8 starts) due to minor injuries.
Lallana, 35 years old, club website:
? “I will get to the end of the season first and see what happens. I’m not sure if this will be my last year playing, but that is a conversation later in the season.”
Athletic revealed in October Brighton’s plans to keep Lallana in a managerial position when his playing days are over.
He has trained in educational sessions with Brighton’s first team and England Under-21s and Under-21s during the current campaign, encouraged by the club’s head coach, Roberto De Zerbi. Here’s more from Lallana:
? “I’m still not 100 percent sure I have to. But I’d be stupid if I didn’t give it a chance, considering I’ve spent the last 15 years as a footballer. Especially the way I’ve been in the box for the last five, six, seven years.
“I’ve tried to help my teammates. It probably started in Liverpool, when I had a lot of injuries. We’re starting to see the game in a different way. “

Adam Forshaw is the latest to move permanently to Plymouth Argyle from Norwich City.
A deal has not yet been reached or closed, the 32-year-old midfielder is in talks with the Championship Club.
Forshaw joined Norwich from Leeds United in a casual move last summer but has made two league starts this season.
He has been in the league since being substituted at half-time in the 3-1 defeat to Swansea City on 28 October, and was absent from the final five Championship matchday groups.
Forshaw has six months left on his contract at Norwich.
Should Forshaw sign he would be their fifth addition in this window, following the acquisitions of Ashley Phillips, Alfie Devine (both Spurs) and Darko Gyabi (Leeds) on loan, and free signing Matty Sorinola.
They replace four loaners who were recalled to their parent clubs this month: Finn Azaz (Aston Villa, who was then sold to Middlesbrough), Kaine Kesler-Hayden (Villa), Luke Cundle (Wolves) and Lewis Warrington (Everton).
