Tottenham have rejected a verbal approach from NWSL’s new expansion side Bay FC for Barbora Votikova.
Spurs slipped in goal after Votikova’s performances against Arsenal.
The 27-year-old, whose contract runs until 2025, struggles to gain playing time with Becky Spencer as her favorite No. 1. West Ham striker Michail Antonio suffered an educational injury that is expected to sideline him in January.
The striker, who has been sidelined with a knee problem since Nov. 12, will return to the pitch for Sunday’s FA Cup match against Bristol City, and assistant manager Billy McKinley said Friday he would be assessed after Saturday’s training.
But Antonio missed a consultation at the club’s base at Rush Green before the third-round draw and aggravated the injury.
The initial diagnosis is that he will now be out for more weeks.

Crystal Palace fear Michael Olise will miss the remainder of their January fixtures after suffering another hamstring injury.
Olise accepted the challenge in the closing stages of Palace’s 3-1 victory over Brentford in December.
The prognosis is for the Olise to miss at least another three weeks.
The 22-year-old missed Thursday’s FA Cup third round against Everton and will not feature in the next replay after the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park. He is expected to miss a Premier League match against Arsenal on January 20 and possibly not turn back time for the home game against Sheffield United 10 days later.

Few new footballers share reviews like Timo Werner, within the same match and rarely within the same phase of play.
Werner’s inventory was at its best when he signed for Chelsea in 2020, having scored 28 goals and assisted 8 more for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, figures that put him in the same numerical category as Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski this season.
His speed and movement seemed to be perfectly suited to the Premier League. But while those attributes were on display in his two years at Stamford Bridge, Werner became known for an incredible run of missed opportunities, perhaps the most productive exemplified through a missed double goal. against Leeds in December of his first season.
It’s no surprise, then, that in his two years in England, Werner has underperformed his expected targets (-8. 26) than any Premier League player in that period.
But the philosophical question remains: is it better to have a player who fills those positions and (sometimes) doesn’t score than to have a more reliable but less chaotic force on the team?

Unai Emery has admitted it is unclear whether Aston Villa will do so in January, despite injuries and absences ahead of the FA Cup match at Middlesbrough.
Villa remains strict when it comes to Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, however, there is a sense that Emery needs to do so at right-back, with Matty Cash being the only specialist option lately in the team.
Speaking on Friday, Emery said Villa would only make the sign if he could join the team and that only a few players were willing to leave:

Former Spain midfielder Juan Mata left Japan’s Vissel Kobe after his contract expired.
Mata, 35, signed a four-month contract mid-season and is part of the team that won the J League title for the first time.
They announced the news on Saturday.
“I am very happy to have been part of the club’s historic moment in winning the league for the first time,” Mata said in a statement. “I will never forget the memories we made together.”
Mata won the World Cup with Spain in 2010. He lifted the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012, before spending eight seasons at Manchester United.
He spent a season with Galatasaray in Turkey before joining Japan as a free agent in September.

Aston Villa Women have signed defender Noelle Maritz from Arsenal.
The Swiss foreigner signs a two-and-a-half-year contract, with the possibility of a further year, and becomes Carla Ward’s first signing in the January transfer window.

Brazilian legend Mario Zagallo, who won 4 World Cups as a player and coach, has died at the age of 92.
Zagallo won back-to-back tournaments as a player in 1958 and 1962, before led Brazil to glory as a coach in 1970 — becoming the first person to win the World Cup both as a player and a manager.
He was an assistant coach to Carlos Alberto Parreira when Brazil won the 1994 World Cup in the United States.
He also led Brazil to the final in 1998, where they lost to hosts France.
A report by the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) showed in the early hours of Saturday the death of Zagallo, whose president Ednaldo Rodrigues called him “the idol of our football”.

Ben Davies suffered a suspected hamstring injury during Tottenham Hotspur’s FA Cup win over Burnley on Friday, but head coach Ange Postecoglou said the defender’s absence would have no effect on Eric Dier’s potential departure in January.
Athletic reported on Friday that Bayern Munich are in talks with Dier as one of the centre-back options, with the 29-year-old English player a foreigner in the final six months of his contract with Spurs.
Postecoglou said Dier’s absence from the matchday against Burnley is due to an injury sustained in training and separated from any movement activity.
“He just got injured and didn’t work out yesterday,” the Spurs head coach said of Dier.
When asked about the links with Bayern, Postecoglou replied: “Separate issue, but don’t question my integrity. When I say he’s injured, he’s injured. He didn’t exercise yesterday. I can get you Vision (footage of Spurs drills) for you. “, you can ask. It has nothing to do with anything else.
