Tottenham are making plans to honor a fan who was tragically stabbed to death on New Year’s Eve by putting his symbol on the big screen at Burnley’s home ground on Friday.
Harry Pitman, 16, was killed minutes before the NYE fireworks began in London close to a viewing platform in Primrose Hill.
His family had asked Spurs fans to chant his name in tribute in the 16th minute of the FA Cup clash against the Clarets on Friday evening via a social-media post which was widely shared.
And now, the club has shown that it will do its part by showing Harry’s photo and offering it wider to his loved ones.
Spurs read: “Our fans answered the family’s call for applause in the 16th minute, during which we will be putting Harry’s symbol on our giant screens with the family’s blessing.
“The club will liaise directly with the family in terms of wider support we can provide at this unimaginably difficult time.”
Harry lived in Tottenham and is said to have been a Spurs fan.
A tweet from the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust read: “The loss of Harry Pitman at such a young age is truly tragic and we send our deepest condolences to Harry’s entire circle of family and friends.
“@THSTOfficial pays tribute to Harry in the 16th minute of Friday’s match, which will unite the @Spursofficial family in solidarity with this devastating loss. “
