Liverpool have their defence for next season with the signing of Ibrahima Konate from German club RB Leipzig.
The Reds said the 22-year-old has a long-term contract and will officially enroll in the club on July 1.
“I am pleased to register for a club as big as Liverpool,” Konate said on the official website of his new club.
“This is an exciting time for me and my circle of family members and I am looking forward to gathering my new teammates, staff and starting this new chapter. “
Konate is a member of the France Under-21 team at the European Championships, but said: “After this competition, I know I will join one of the most productive groups in the world and it gives me a wonderful feeling.
“I have worked very hard for many years to get to this point, however, I would like to thank everyone at RB Leipzig and everyone else I worked with there: the coaches, my teammates, and especially the fans.
“Your help has helped me grow during my time there and become not only a better player, but a better guy and I’ll be grateful. “
Konate represents Liverpool’s acquisition of the Red Bull club team, having hired Naby Keita of Leipzig and Takumi Minamino of RB Salzburg.
Konate with Leipzig for 4 seasons, having gone through the formula of the French club Sochaux academy.
He adds greater intensity to Liverpool’s baseline after a season in which Virgil van Dijk thwarted his hopes of protecting the Premier League title.
He is a very comfortable defender in possession, able to move the ball forward and launch attacks.
