Liverpool defender Nat Phillips admitted that he looked like he was about to leave the club in the recent move-in window of the summer.
The 23-year-old made a wonderful demonstration for the Reds in his 2–1 win over West Ham while Jurgen Klopp continues to struggle with his defensive features after a series of injuries.
Virgil van Dijk is expected to be out for the rest of the season, while Joel Matip is also lately out of action.
Even midfielder Fabinho, who is the defender, is injured for the time being and missed the West Ham game, with Phillips coming in as an emergency option.
However, the young man behaved well and said he was pleased to have stayed in Anfield instead of moving on as it looked like he was going to do so.
Speaking on Match of the Day, quoted on the BBC Sport website, he said: “It’s been a bit in recent years because it looked like it was leaving the club in the [transfer] window, there was a lot of interest. “
“It didn’t materialize at the finish line and I’m glad it wasn’t because I had the chance here with the injuries.
Liverpool enthusiasts hope he can continue to impress, they also have another promising young man at Rhys Williams as another possible option in this position.
