Jurgen Klopp hopes to step forward when Liverpool’s Premier League name defender begins next month after a 2-2 draw with Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.
And the Reds boss was hugely happy to see the enthusiasts back at the stadium after nearly 1,000 enthusiasts watched the game at red Bull Arena on Tuesday.
Two goals from Patson Daka gave Jesse Marsch’s appearance a well-deserved take on halftime before a double from replacement Rhian Brewster allowed the champions to defeat in the Austrian capital.
The fit Liverpool is the first in front of a live crowd since leaving the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid on 11 March and Klopp greeted through enthusiastic Austrians while performing their post-fit press duties.
Klopp said he expects degrees of functionality when he receives Leeds United at Anfield on 12 September after a slow performance at the big games in Salzburg.

Rhian Brewster is determined to continue to make the most of each and every opportunity to impress Jurgen Klopp after admitting that he had returned to Liverpool with another player.
Brewster came from the bench to score twice as the Reds returned 2-0 to draw 2-2 at Red Bull Salzburg in their last pre-season friendly in Austria on Tuesday afternoon.
Having also scored on Saturday’s 3-0 win over Stuttgart, he maintained the 20-year-old’s form after impressing on loan at Swansea City last season.
Since Divock Origi lacks any of the pre-season games, Brewster may now have the chance to at least bank in the Community Shield opposed to Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday.

The 29-year-old is still closely associated with a move to Liverpool this summer, and reports suggest that Anfield is the player’s most likely destination.
Despite ongoing rumors, ECHO has been informed several times that Thiago is lately not a player the Reds were looking to sign.
