Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders will be the new head coach of Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg after he leaves Anfield at the end of the season.
The Dutchman, who initially worked at Liverpool under Brfinishan Rodgers, will leave the Merseysiders under current manager Jurgen Klopp at the end of the Premier League campaign.
Liverpool added on Wednesday that Vitor Matos, who spent four-and-a-half years as the club’s elite progression coach, would also join Salzburg as Lijnders’ assistant.
“I am very proud of the new manager of FC Red Bull Salzburg,” Lijnders told Liverpool’s website.
“For me it’s a real privilege. After PSV Eindhoven, Porto and Liverpool, I now join another exceptional club, with a very intelligent distribution and a special attention to the development of young people.
“I need to expand a mentality in the team that puts a lot of emphasis on the taste of the offensive game and where the fans and the thirst for good luck are the basis of everything.
“Together with my assistant coach Vitor Matos and the entire team, we will do everything we can to help the club continue to grow in an ever-changing world of football. “
