Liverpool eliminated Arsenal 2-0 in an English FA Cup match in London to advance to the quarterfinals of the domestic tournament on Sunday.
In the minute of the clash at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, Liverpool broke the deadlock when Gunners defender Jakub Kiwior headed in an own goal from a free kick.
Towards the end of the match, Liverpool winger Luis Diaz scored on a counter-attack to double the lead and consolidate the visitors’ victory.
Liverpool captain and centre-back Virgil van Dijk absent due to illness.
Earlier on Sunday, Manchester City beat lower-division Huddersfield Town 5-0 at home to advance to the FA Cup quarterfinals.
England star Phil Foden scored twice for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, and teammates Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku each got the ball in once.
Huddersfield’s Ben Jackson scored a goal.
The draw for the quarter-finals or 16 of the FA Cup will take place on Monday.
