Liverpool goes dark with a new visit for the 2024-25 season

Liverpool have launched their new away kit for the 2024-25 season, which gives the club a much darker, melancholic and plainer look than usual.

In recent seasons, the Reds have seen the shirts worn in glories beyond, Shankly Gates’ wrought iron at Anfield or Liverpool’s nightclub scene.

This time, they opted for something incredibly basic. There are no graphics or patterns, no flashy designs or even bright colors.

The shirt looks almost black, but when you look at it intensely you see that it is actually a (very) dark green base that the club and manufacturer Nike call “Night Forest”.

There are some flashes of brightness, however, thanks to the undeniably soft “faded teal” accents around the collar and cuffs and a touch of white on the sides.

It’s undeniably stylish, but it’s easier to mistake it for a jersey worn by players on the educational pitch than in an actual match. Perhaps Liverpool have stockpiled all their artistic power for a big change with their third exchange kit, which has yet to be released.

It could have been great to see the same angular stripe trend used on the 2024-25 home top implemented on the away top as well, perhaps in a lighter complementary gray or even more teal tone, which has been used throughout the club in their kits since the early 1990s.

The Reds will wear their new jersey for the first time on Saturday when they face Manchester United in preseason at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. They will then pack their bags and head home while they make their Premier League arrangements at home.
