Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp privately called Kostas Tsimikas to declare his interest in bringing him to Anfield, Greek media outlet Sportime reported.
Klopp reportedly told Tsimikas: “The resolution is yours. We need you, you have very good compatibility in our assignment and the way we need to play.”
On Monday, Liverpool made their first signing of the 2020 off-season, signing Greek defender Konstantinos Tsimikas of Olympiacos.
The 24-year-old left-back played 46 games for Olympiacos in all competitions last season and won his Greek Super League title.
Liverpool’s first pick, Jamal Lewis, however, Norwich City did not settle for Liverpool’s bid for a 10 million pound ‘low ball’ attempt. According to sources, they’ve ordered nearly 20 million pounds.
Jurgen Klopp also admitted that Liverpool was following new recruit Kostas Tsimikas for “a long time” and praised the Greek international’s “attitude and mindset.” Speaking at Liverpool’s official website, he said: “We have been watching Kostas for a long time and we are pleased that he has joined us.”
“He’s a very smart footballer with a win-win attitude, and I like his mindset. This perfectly corresponds to the environment and preference that we already have in our wardrobe (…) He has already shown from a very young age that he can revel in football in another country and get it right, and he has been a great component of the good fortune Olympiacos has had to earn his name this season and in his European campaigns,” Klopp continued.

Financial details were not given, but British media reported Liverpool paid £11.75million for Tsimikas.
The defender will be Liverpool’s 21st shirt.
“My brother is a Liverpool fan, so he pushed me to come here,” Tsimikas said after the move through Liverpool was unveiled.
“As a child, I supported Liverpool. For my whole circle of family and brother, I’m happy to point this club out. My brother will be happy when he sees the pictures of me joining Liverpool,” the 24-year-old added. Old.
