Liverpool’s defence, Dejan Lovren, is about to signal Zenit St Petersburg with a 10.9 million pound deal.
The Croatian foreigner has spent six seasons at Anfield and has played only 15 games this season, falling to the fourth centre-back team in the hierarchy Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.
Lovren was about to enter the final year of his contract and Liverpool has the option to extend it for another 12 months, the Press Association understands that the centre-back deserves to move forward.
After last summer’s Champions League victory, Lovren connected to a summer transfer, but decided to stay when it was no longer the first choice.
For more than two years, he has suffered premature and horrific injuries that have prevented him from passing the key moments.
The 31-year-old lasts one match in February, Liverpool’s first league defeat at Watford, and his longest consecutive match streak this season is 4 in December.
