Liverpool Move News: New Undercover Goalkeeper as Former Coach Hopes to Return to Premier League

Liverpool are still waiting for the announcement of Arne Slot’s first signing as manager, hopes of confirming a new goalkeeper continue to grow.

Another new name, Joan Garcia, has been sought despite interest from Arsenal, while former boss Rafa Benitez says he has a dozen offers on the table but is waiting for another, more sensible role in the Premier League.

And to give Slot a boost, defender Andrew Roberston showed he’s back in top shape after suffering chronic injury issues in the final months of last season.

Here’s the big news from Anfield a week away from the summer moving period.

Joan Garcia has refused to be carried away by hypotheses that link him to a departure from Espanyol amid interests from Arsenal and Liverpool.

The 23-year-old Spaniard has been touted as Arsenal’s target to upgrade Aaron Ramsdale if they allow the move of their former number one goalkeeper, who needs to leave to play regular first-team football.

The Spanish media Mundo Deportivo also claims that Garcia is on the radar of Liverpool and Girona, the former seems to be close to closing a deal for Georgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

Garcia was in the journalists’ box after Espanyol’s defeat to Real Valladolid on Monday night, but remained coy when asked about his future.

Rafa Benitez says he has won job offers from all over the world, but wants to return to the Premier League.

Benítez has been unemployed since leaving Celta Vigo in March and says he has won offers from Europe, the Middle East and Central America. His preference is to return to the Premier League, where he has controlled Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton.

Benítez and his family have lived in Wirral since he moved to Liverpool in 2004 and would like to have some other chance on the more sensible flight. However, they need a competitive club and not just in the Premier League.

“My first choice is to manage in the Premier League,” he told Sky Bet’s Stick to Football podcast. “As for the rest, this year I have two offers from Greece, one from Turkey, one from Hungary, two from Mexico, one from the Emirates, one from Qatar, two from Saudi Arabia and some national teams.

But which Premier League would Benítez choose?

Andy Robertson, despite everything, is not in pain and is in a position to return to his most productive form.

The Liverpool defender has revealed how he spent five months betting on injuries to give his all for club and country. Robertson, 30, suffered ankle problems in the second half of last season but recovered and led Scotland to Euro 2024.

The winger’s belief that the three-week break would help him calm down, however, later forced him to sit out the Reds’ pre-season matches in the United States. But he returned in top form to take on Ipswich on the opening weekend of the season.

And now it’s going to start with Arne Slot.
