Arne Slot is at work as pre-season begins at Liverpool in preparation for 2024/25.
While Euro 2024 and Copa America are still underway and the likes of Cody Gakpo and Trent Alexander-Arnold are yet to see the culmination of their 2023/24 season, the Premier League season is just a month away. Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Jarell Quansah are already among those already at Melwood.
The Reds are yet to sign a first-team star with Slot, but they are sure to join their squad before the move window ends. It has now been shown that goalkeeper Adrian will leave the club to replace Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip, while Calvin Ramsay has been loaned to Wigan.
With work to be done for the first team, there are some intriguing weeks ahead. Mirror Football takes a look at the latest news on Liverpool movements.
Liverpool have rejected a £4m offer from Trabzonspor for defender Nat Phillips, according to reports. The Turkish club have made an offer to sign the 27-year-old who was loaned to Celtic last season.
However, the Reds receive an all-in of £8 million from the Super Lig. Phillips has entered the final year of his contract, but Anfield are in no rush to sell the centre-back.
The club may be waiting for interest from Burnley, who recently named Scott Parker. The Clarets manager coached Phillips in the past when the Liverpool ace was loaned to Bournemouth in 2020/21.
Liverpool have contacted Benfica in search of young star Joao Neves, according to reports in Portugal. The 19-year-old ace has piqued interest from Manchester United and is said to have a £101. 4m buyout.
Neves’ contract lasts until 2028, but Benfica could offer him new conditions, such is the interest in the midfielder. However, Portugal’s foreign country has not yet signed a new agreement.
Work is already underway on Liverpool’s educational floor, but it turns out that Arne Slot’s team is not yet complete. Former Everton defender Johnny Heitinga has kept his cards close to his chest, but revealed he is in talks with his former rivals.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, he said: “I am in talks with Liverpool. All I can say now is that they have approached me and that my agent Rob Jansen and I are in talks. “
The departure of goalkeeper Adrián from Liverpool has been confirmed. The Spaniard saw his contract expire at the end of the month but submitted a new contract to remain at Anfield.
The former West Am goalkeeper decided to end his stay at the club and sent a moving message to his fans. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have given me in this beautiful and successful adventure together,” he said.
“In five years, you’ve shown me a lot. Wearing a Liverpool shirt and protecting the Liverpool crest at Anfield adds to the seven wonders of the world.
“Those 11 yards are nothing when it comes to winning a title. This London is in fact Anfield South. The Scouse fixture is not difficult, it is aimed at select and special people.
“This culture will have to be protected. YNWA is not just a hymn, it is a philosophy of life. Even if just 3 letters, K O P, can lift you up in your most difficult moments.
“Now is the time to share all the reports I have learned. I will be grateful to you for life. You have been and will be very special to me and my family.
“As Bill Shankly said: ‘Liverpool Football Club exists to win trophies. ‘I wish you all the best. Once red, red!”
