Mark Ogden is weighing up the possibility of Arne Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool (2:29).
Liverpool have begun talks with Feyenoord to review and negotiate a deal between the club’s head manager Arne Slot and Jurgen Klopp’s successor as manager at Anfield, sources told ESPN.
ESPN reported on Tuesday that Slot, 45, was the leading candidate for the Liverpool job following Xabi Alonso’s decision to stay at Bayer Leverkusen and the Premier League club’s growing interest in Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim.

But with Liverpool facing Bayern Munich and Barcelona for Slot, contacts have been made with Feyenoord in a bid to win the race for the former AZ Alkmaar manager.
Slot turned down approaches from Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur last year (Chelsea also expressed interest in him) and opted to sign a new three-year contract with the Rotterdam side, having led the club to the 2022-23 Eredivisie title.
Following Slot’s commitment to Feyenoord until 2026, Liverpool would have to pay a refund of around £9 million ($11. 2 million) to remove him from his contract.
The search for a new manager at Liverpool is led by Michael Edwards, who hired Klopp in 2015 in his previous role as principal, after returning to the club last month as director of football for Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool’s American owner.
Klopp announced in January that he would step down at the end of this season.
Liverpool face Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday and need to beat their Merseyside rivals to close the gap to three points over Premier League leaders Arsenal, who were transparent at best with a 5-0 win over Chelsea on Tuesday.
