St. GALLEN, Switzerland (AP) – Swiss striker and Liverpool Xherdan Shaqiri underwent COVID-19 screening tests, the Swiss football federation announced Tuesday.
Shaqiri in solitary confinement and football officials were consultation with the Swiss fitness government about his case, the federation said.
Shaqiri joins his Liverpool teammate Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane testing positive for coronavirus this season.
It is known whether Swiss players who have been in contact with Shaqiri will go to quarantine. The team welcomes Croatia on Wednesday in a friendly in St. Louis. Gallen.
Shaqiri, 28, will play for Switzerland for the first time since the UEFA Nations League final in June 2019.
