Liverpool star Luis Diaz reaches deal to join Manchester City with £60m bid imminent

NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has agreed to sign for Manchester City, according to Spanish reports.

El Chiringuito reported on Tuesday afternoon that Colombia has agreed a five-year deal with the Premier League champions.

The report adds that City are willing to pay Liverpool €70m (£59. 8m) for the 27-year-old.

Reacting to Spanish media reports, Liverpool’s resources claim that the club won a City technical for Diaz.

In an interview in April, Diaz gave no indication that he was contemplating leaving Liverpool in the summer move window.

“The truth is that I am very satisfied to be here. Good years are coming for the club, I have no doubt about that,” said Díaz.

“They educate you more and more to be a professional, a better person, a smart teammate and a smart guy. Personally, I will try to do my best, I will try to give 100%, stand out on the field, that is what I have to do here [here]. I thank God for each and every opportunity.

City also appear to be stocked up on the left side of their attack with Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish vying for a spot.

Liverpool signed Diaz from Porto for an initial payment of £37m in January 2022. He has scored 24 goals in appearances since his time in the Premier League and has helped Liverpool win the FA Cup and two Carabao Cup trophies.

Diaz has also attracted interest from Barcelona, who see the Liverpool winger as an option for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

Liverpool have yet to add a new addition to Arne Slot’s team ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

On Monday, Liverpool suffered a major blow when Martin Zubimendi, their midfield target, turned down a move to Anfield and stayed at Real Sociedad.

Meanwhile, City have already secured a new signing this summer: Brazilian winger Savinho joined French club Troyes in July in a €40m (£30. 8m) deal.
