Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones’ latest comments will be music to Arne Slot’s ears, but they may also surprise Jurgen Klopp. Slot is now in the second month of his tenure at Anfield following his departure from Feyenoord, with the club lately in the United States for their summer pre-season tour.
Jones, 23, played 36 club appearances last season but failed to secure a normal starting position under Klopp.
However, the former England under-21 foreigner is now obviously looking forward to a new life under the new boss, having praised the Dutchman for his tactical and educational methods.
Pressed for influence from Slot and his team, Jones said: “It’s unbelievable, actually. I’ve said it many times, it’s probably the happiest moment I’ve ever had in terms of the taste in play that suits me and the guys we work with. “We have in our team, it is a transparent plan.
“In training he is completely involved, he trains us a lot, he is interested in the smallest details. He has a safe way of betting and he knows that it will take him a little time because it is obviously a big change. He and His team are calm and know that the quality is there.
Jones made his first Premier League appearances during the Covid-19 affected 2019/20 campaign, playing enough games to earn a winner’s medal. He has played for the club 133 times in all competitions but admitted he has struggled to express himself to Klopp in the past.
“I would say it’s the happiest I’ve ever been,” he explained. “It has been a complicated moment. I was part of the team when I was young, I had a way of playing and the team I came to I had to adapt, I had to change.
“But it’s part of the plan. It’s nothing I can’t do, but I feel like it’s not me now. I can take the ball more, I can do more, so I’m excited. “
And Jones also added that Slot, who is yet to sign for the summer, was happy to discuss issues with players outside of the educational field. “He is a glorious man, he has a smile on his face. You can attack him at any time,” he said.

Although it has proved popular with Jones, fan skepticism is developing over the lack of slot activity in the summer movement window. The Reds have yet to make any signs since the window opened, despite being connected with a slew of players.
Liverpool will face Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United in the United States, before returning home to complete their pre-season preparation against Sevilla. Slots’ first competitive match will take place on August 17 against newly promoted Ipswich Town.
