The 21-year-old, a product of Shakhtar’s academy, has had a star player for the Ukrainian national team since he made his professional debut in October 2020.
Sudakov upgraded his game to new h8s in the 2022-23 season after contributing five goals and eight assists in 29 Ukrainian Premier League games to help Shakhtar win the title.
This season, Sudakov has scored five goals and two assists in 24 appearances in all competitions, while he also scored his first overseas goal for Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia in October.
Amid interest in his services, Shakhtar managed to tie Sudakov to a new long-term contract last month that expires at the end of 2028.
However, that hasn’t stopped rumours linking the highly skilled midfielder to a primary this summer, with a number of European primary clubs believed to be interested.
Premier League trio Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been credited with interest, as have Bayern Munich, Juventus and Napoli.
A possible move to Liverpool for Sudakov has also been mooted and, according to Fichajes, the Reds are “very close” to winning the race for his signing.
Liverpool are reportedly keen to bolster their midfield roles this summer, with Sudakov among their most sensible targets heading into the new season.
The Premier League is a “tempting destination” for Sudakov, who aspires to exert his industry in one of Europe’s most sensible leagues in the near future.
Having tied Sudakov to a new deal, Shakhtar have no pressure to take credit for the youngster, who has been given a new release clause set at €150 million (£128. 1m).
Liverpool’s interest in Sudakov comes at a time when Thiago Alcantara faces a long dubious career at the club, with the 32-year-old Spaniard, who has been plagued by injuries this season, set to see his contract expire in June.
