Liverpool FC reportedly will wait until the final week of the ongoing summer transfer window to make an official move for Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara.
Liverpool are the favourite of signalal Alcantara, who recently won the Champions League with Bayern Munich. The 29-year-old still has one more year of his current tenure, but the Spaniard has refused to sign an overtime to take on a new one during his seven seasons at Bayern Munich, he won as many Bundesliga titles as other trophies.
After Liverpool, Manchester United contacted Alcantara’s agent, Old Trafford’s team did nothing else. After Donny van de Beek’s arrival from Ajax, the signing of a midfielder is no longer a precedent for the Red Devils.
It has also been reported that FC Barcelona will re-sign Alcántara, who represented the Azulgranas between 2008 and 2013, while the new head coach, Ronald Koeman, is interested in signing compatriot Gini Wijnaldum, the club that will bring Alcántara back.
However, Bayern Munich are understood to be sure to receive an official offer from Liverpool by the Alcántara in the coming days. The Reds doubt Alcantara’s $35 million payment, but the German aspect has argued that the move payment is non-negotiable.

The online sports page talkSPORT reported that Liverpool planned to delay moving until the last minute of the move-in window towards the most productive agreement for Alcantara. Alex Crook, a move-in specialist at talkSPORT, insisted that if Gini Wijnaldum, who is connected with a move to Barcelona, left Anfield this season, then only Liverpool would speed up Alcantara’s march.
“We’ve talked a lot about this one, and I think it’s going to get right to the point. If [Gini] Wijnaldum goes, I think Liverpool will increase their interest. Liverpool are still at the forefront, but they are looking to force Bayern Munich to reduce that requested value by 30 million euros ($35 million), Crook said.
However, Wijnaldum’s recent meeting with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is believed to be fine and dutch midfielder now hopes to get a Reds contract extension soon.
Crook also that Liverpool will soon point to 17-year-old goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga of Fluminense.
“I don’t expect an offer [from Alcantara] to come before the last week of the window. Liverpool made a signing, 17-year-old goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga del Fluminense for 700k euros, but I’m not sure. “it’s going to excite your enthusiasts too much at this point,” added the talkSPORT movement guru.
