Liverpool have revealed the tragic death of an ill-health fan at the helm of the Champions League match against Benfica on Wednesday 13 April.

The fan became ill about 20 minutes before the start of the current stage at Anfield. They received medical assistance at the Sir Kenny Dalglish Gallery and were taken to hospital.
Merseyside Police used horsemen to help the ambulance at the scene get to hospital faster. They issued their own statement, writing: “We can verify that a man sadly passed away after falling ill at the Liverpool vs Benfica football match last night, Wednesday 13 April. “, at Anfield.
“Before the match, a man in his sixties was taken to hospital from the stadium for emergency treatment, but sadly passed away shortly afterwards. The man’s relatives were informed.
