Liverpool vs Everton team news and predicted line-up: Gravenberch got his first Premier League start when he picked Robertson’s replacement

Liverpool will renew hostilities with neighbours Everton in a highly anticipated Merseyside derby this weekend, on talkSPORT.

The Reds and Toffees are back to battle it out at opposite ends of the Premier League with more than bragging rights.

Liverpool are in fourth place in the Premier League lately and have lost one of their last 25 derbies on Merseyside.

But after the start of the season, the club had picked up just one point from six before the break and wants to get back to winning ways.

On the other hand, after some effects in their first few games, Everton have won two of their last 3 league games.

Klopp has a number of decisions to make for his starting XI after several serious injuries to key players.

Andy Robertson is expected to miss the box due to a shoulder injury sustained during the match between Scotland and Spain.

The simplest replacement would be a change with his assistant Kostas Tsimikas and that could be what Klopp is doing.

But the Greek foreigner has been flattered for cheating this season in the Europa League and is directly to blame for Leicester’s opener at Anfield in Liverpool’s 3-1 Carabao Cup win last month.

That could open the door for Joe Gomez to start at left-back, where he first broke into the Liverpool squad under Brendan Rodgers.

Gomez calmed down as he covered Trent Alexander-Arnold’s recent hamstring injury and his sharper defensive skills would possibly be needed against an Everton counter-attacking team.

His presence would also give his England colleague the license to thrive in his reversed role and open up the Toffees.

Joel Matip has been favourite as captain Virgil van Dijk’s first-choice spouse ahead of Ibrahima Konate, while summer signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have cemented their position in Klopp’s three-man midfield.

Curtis Jones is still serving his three-match suspension following his red card in the 2-1 loss to Tottenham.

Harvey Elliott was given the green light to update it in the 2-2 draw at Brighton, but was updated at half-time through Ryan Gravenberch.

Former Bayern Munich star Gravenberch once got inspired again coming off the bench and is set to start his first Premier League after being signed for an overseas assignment via the Netherlands.

In attack, Mohamed Salah will be flanked by Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.

The latter were rested thanks to Klopp last month while on a foreign project in South America before the 12:30 p. m. kickoff.

Colombian winger Diaz and Uruguayan striker Nunez came off the bench in the 2-1 win over Wolves, but the derby will remove any extras they have to do and increase their chances of playing.

The lack of other features may also strain Klopp’s hands, as Cody Gakpo is yet to be fitted with starting after suffering a knee injury.

Diogo Jota has returned from a one-game suspension and is capable of playing on the left or middle if Diaz or Nunez are unavailable.

The Toffees are much clearer about how they will line up, with Dele Alli, Seamus Coleman and Andre Gomes out.

Blues manager Dyche has opted for the same five-man defender in his last four Premier League games, led by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Jarrad Branthwaite formed an impressive partnership with James Tarkowski, flanked by Vitaliy Mykolenko and veteran Ashley Young.

Idrissa Gana Gueye was named first in Dyche’s starting XI for the 3-0 win over Bournemouth but withdrew after suffering an injury in the warm-up.

Although the factor is minor and Gueye is expected to return to the centre of Everton’s midfield.

Amadou Onana was originally expected to be the player to retire against Bournemouth before Gueye’s injury.

But the Belgian foreigner still likes James Garner in away games because of his physique.

Garner, a former Manchester United star, scored in his first start in central midfield against the Cherries after having to play wide for most of this season and may have done enough to replace Dyche’s thinking.

The rest of Dyche’s decision-making is straightforward, with Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil operating on the wings.

And Abdoulaye Doucouré enjoyed getting Dominic Calvert-Lewin back after the latter returned to his best form.

This Premier League clash will take place on Saturday 21 October with kick-off at Anfield scheduled for 12. 30pm.
