Liverpool vs Fulham player ratings: 3/10, boy should be our teammate as 8/10 duo save Reds

Liverpool tied thanks to their unbeaten run extending to 20 games in all competitions.

Diogo Jota proved to be the Reds’ savior when he came off the bench to score five minutes from time, hitting home a right-footed shot after a game behind.

Liverpool’s afternoon was compromised from the start when Andreas Pereira opened the scoring for the visitors, but it was Andrew Robertson’s early red card that caused maximum chaos.

The left-back maintained a questionable touch and cannot face lawsuits over the dismissal, which appeared to have saddled his team with their long unbeaten streak.

His blush was saved first by Cody Gakpo’s header at the far post, but the Dutchman’s equaliser lost its meaning when Rodrigo Muñiz put Fulham ahead with 15 minutes remaining.

In the end, a point proved to be the fairest result as Liverpool showed their willingness to avoid defeat and maintain their lead at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Alisson Becker – 6

He remained calm for most of the afternoon until he made a stoppage in added time. Saving with his feet to deny Adama Traoré, the Brazilian player provided a timely reminder of why he is Liverpool’s number one option.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6

He worked in midfield for most of Liverpool’s 10-man era but was unable to offer a moment of magic.

Joe Gomez – 5

He couldn’t settle in for Fulham’s moment and didn’t provide the typical metal that Virgil Van Dijk is used to in the centre of defence.

Virgil Van Dijk – 6

He could not have done much on either goal and even contributed to his own offensive efforts.

Andrew Robertson – 3

He made his own bed for the red card after taking a heavy touch before bringing Harry Wilson to the ground as the last man in Liverpool’s defence.

Ryan Gravenberch – 8

Bossed the contest throughout, even after being asked to drop into defence following Robertson’s red card. Slowly emerging as one of the Player of the Season contenders, for both club and the wider league’s award.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 6

Provided legs in midfield, but lacked quality at times. It took a lot of painting to unite the 10-man defense and attack, but Liverpool took a step forward when adjustments were made and the Hungarian was taken off the field.

Curtis Jones – 5

At times he seemed lost in the middle of the field. Booked for a clumsy take midway through the second half and was hooked when the scores were tied. They let their chance to shine slip away with the absence of Alexis Mac Allister.

Cody Gakpo – 7

Quite a bit in the first one, before and after the red card. He rightly discovered the net to make it 1-1 with a succulent header from Mohamed Salah’s center.

Mohamed Salah – 6

I missed some opportunities where a player of his quality deserves to have done better. I provided sublime help for Gakpo’s header, but I would have been disappointed if it hadn’t had an even bigger impact on the game.

Luis Diaz – 5

Missed a chance that ought to have finished in a goal during the first half and failed to look comfortable at the tip of Liverpool’s attack. Was still lively throughout, but it wasn’t his finest day at the office.

Darwin Núñez (sub) – 6

Liverpool may have played with nine men for most of the Uruguayan’s time on the pitch, but he helped Jota earn an equaliser.

Jarell Quansah (alternate) – 4

Blinded by Rodrigo Muñiz for Fulham’s second goal moments after coming off the bench.

Diogo Jota (sub) – 8

He remained calm before achieving the equalizer. Absent from fighting since mid-October due to injury, his return before the hectic Christmas season could prove beneficial for the six-time European champion.

Harvey Elliot (under) – 6

He added a bright spark on the bench but some disappointing deliveries. He is the one who will be warmly received after a long injury.
