Liverpool booked their place in the Champions League last 16 with a 2-1 win over 10-man Lille at Anfield on Tuesday, thanks to goals from talisman Mohamed Salah and substitute Harvey Elliott.

Salah scored his European goal for Liverpool in the 34th minute when he ran after a long pass from Curtis Jones before firing a shot past goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.
Despite being reduced to ten men when Aissa Mandi received his second yellow card in the 59th minute, Jonathan David equalised for the visitors 3 minutes later when he hit a loose ball after a shot by Hakon Arnar Haraldsson was blocked.
Liverpool temporarily regained the lead when a corner headed towards the edge of dominance and Elliott fired an accurate shot that deflected wildly in the 67th minute.
