Liverpool presented goalkeeper Adrián with a new contract.
The Spanish goalkeeper is expected to end his contract at Anfield at the end of June, but he is one of three goalkeepers to have been presented with new terms with Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman.
Adrian has been at Liverpool since leaving West Ham loose in the summer of 2019, and has since made 26 appearances in all competitions.
The 37-year-old is lately the third choice between Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher, and came on as a substitute on the bench when the former missed time due to injury in Jurgen Klopp’s final season at the helm.
However, he has made just one competitive appearance this season and has played for Liverpool since the 2022 Community Shield win over Manchester City at Leicester.
Adrian’s last Premier League appearance was in February 2021 against Sheffield United, and his only other appearance since then was in a Carabao Cup fourth-round win at Preston in October 2021.
However, Liverpool obviously still appreciate his experience, especially amid reports that Kelleher could leave Merseyside this summer amid interest from the likes of Celtic and Wolves.
The Reds offered Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara a ticket this summer ahead of new boss Arne Slot’s first term, as well as academy-graduate left-back Adam Lewis.
Centre-back Matip and midfielder Thiago have enjoyed injury-plagued seasons and neither has secured a new contract, having made 201 and 98 appearances respectively in Liverpool’s red shirt.
Matip’s crusade ended with an ACL injury suffered against Fulham in December that required surgery, while Thiago made a brief appearance as a substitute, at Arsenal in early February, as his injury nightmare continued.
Lewis, a former England Under-20 defender, rose through Liverpool’s academy ranks, but only made one senior appearance, against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup in February 2020, while on loan at Amiens, Plymouth and Livingston. He has spent the last two seasons with Newport in League Two.
German under-19 foreigner Melkamu Fraufinishorf and Polish striker Mateusz Musialowski, with three senior appearances between them, are also leaving at the end of their respective contracts, along with academy Nathan Giblin, Francis Gyimah, Luke Hewitson, Niall Osborne and Cody Pennington.
