Liverpool’s Lovren completes Zenit change

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has completed his move to Russian club Zenit St Petersburg for 10.9 million pounds ($14 million) after sliding to the line at Anfield.

The 31-year-old, who joined new Premier League champion Southampton in 2014, has played only 15 appearances this season, falling to the fourth centre-back pick Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

The Croatian has been dealing with minors for more than two years.

“Another Liverpool legend who is leaving the club because it is probably a very, very vital component of this team from day one since I arrived,” coach Jurgen Klopp told liverpoolfc.com.

“When I was fit, I was very, very, very on the team. A wonderful player and a wonderful person,” Klopp added.

“Really well, in the air a machine, and I enjoyed running with it. It will be attractive to stay at Zenit St. Petersburg now. I wish him the best of luck.”
