(Note: each and every week from now until the end of the season, we’ll have a pocket book on Mondays about the Louisville football program)
University of Louisville offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford noted an improvement in a dominance during the off-season.
And it’s not to allow you to be tackled for defeat.
Despite being the second-highest team in the ACC, Louisville ranked 117th in catches and tackled by a loss last season.
“Imagine if we got rid of that,” said minor escort Caleb Chandler, “Coach Ledford preached this to us.”
Ledford said last week that he thought the attack would be much more advanced on this and that it had a lot to do with the intellectual side of the game.
“It has a lot to do with the boys’ system, ” he said.”What we ask of the boys to do from the beginning, they have to be very sporty.
During the off-season, they know what they should do and what they can do to be better.”
Here are some pocket items:
Redshirt freshman Renato Brown entered the fall camp fighting for a spot on the offensive line.
But it just seems that he won the right tackle, however, Dwane Ledford talks about it in brilliant terms.
“Not only on the line, however, he’s one of the guys on the total offense that stood out,” he said.
Brown, 6 feet 4 inches and 330 pounds, is from West Palm Beach, Florida, and played four games last season before taking a red jersey. He happens to be the guy who’s going to update Tyler Haycraft.
“He started (showing) the spring ball, the limited number of practices we had did a smart task,” Ledford said.”He plays with a lot of passion, a lot of power and he has a lot of confidence there.”
Louisville has a lot of weapons from last year’s attack.
Field marshal Micale Cunningham, offensive lineman Javian Hawkins and open catchers Tutu Atwell and Dez Fitzpatrick are among the talented players. All 4 have won pre-season prizes and can be All-ACC players.
And one of the players believes the attack will be even bigger this year.
“I think we’re going to be better than last year, ” said Atwell.”I’m sure it is. Last year, other people didn’t expect us to do very well and show them that we can be smart.football team. This year I think we can be even better. That’s the purpose right now, to be bigger than the last.”
U of L protection coach ShaDon Brown was asked what kind of effect tre Clark’s new high school shift would have.
“Tre is a player,” Brown said.Getting his eligibility waiver has been a massive burden on our football team for this season. He is a wonderful player, he was given wonderful ball skills, very competitive and a wonderful child too.It fits very well in our defensive backroom and in our wardrobe and that’s the first thing we need.If we load a (transfer), we must make sure it is culturally suitable for our wardrobe. He came in and chose the plan. I mean, he’s a game creator and I think at any time you can upload a game creator who uploads some versatility to what you do in the defensive aspect because we think it can block an aspect of the frame and now we don’t have to play with it.anyone in the wisest of him all the time.”
Clark, a Liberty move, won an NCAA waiver to play right away.
Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi knocked out the Associated Press’s Top 25 Preparation Poll.
The Panthers, who welcome Louisville in the third week of the season, did not even get a bachelor vote in the survey.According to Panther247, Narduzzi was informed in a virtual media call that an editor on the call had voted in the survey.
Jerry DiPaola of Trib Total Media covers football and basketball Pitt and said he voted for the Panthers.
“When Narduzzi learned that someone on Tuesday’s Zoom call was an AP voter, he wanted to know the man’s name.I raised my hand,” DiPaola wrote. Don’t send him the Zoom link again,” Narduzzi said, pointing out the worst form of punishment a journalist can receive today.”Are you kidding me, Jerry?”
‘I think he’s joking, and I still think he’s joking, but he seemed angry when he said, ‘Why didn’t you vote for us?’In my mind, I wasn’t as angry as I looked, but I heard it as a serious consultation that required a fair answer.
Brennan Armstrong was named the starting quarterback in Virginia, replacing Bryce Perkins, now a graduate.
Armstrong has given the impression in 11 games in his Cavaliers career as Perkins’ primary replacement in more than two seasons. For his career, Armstrong is 17 of 25 passes for 258 yards and two scores. He also ran 16 times for 93 yards.
