St. LOUIS (AP) – Cameron Thomas scored 27 issues on his college debut, Darius Days peaked with 24 issues and LSU opened the season with a 94-81 win over SIU Edwardsville on Thursday night.
LSU took a 26-4 lead while SIUE scored two goals in the area in the first 11 minutes. The Cougars lost 15 problems at halftime, but opened the moment with a 23-10 race, getting 10 problems from Mike Adewunmi to shoot 59-57.
The days traded two three-point games on a 16-3 streak to put LSU up 83-68 with 5:11 to play, and the Tigers led double-digits the rest of the time.
Trendon Watford had thirteen problems, seven rebounds and nine assists for LSU, and Javonte Smart had 10 issues with five assists. Thomas and Days had four triples, while LSU had 12 problems for 26. The days were nine out of 11 of the box, and the Tigers shot at 51. 7% in total.
Adewunmi finished with 23 problems for SIUE (0-2), led by freshman Coach Brian Barone, Cam Williams added 14 issues and UConn Sidney Wilson, who is the only SIUE player to succeed in a double-digit score at 89-52 Wednesday. defeat to St. Louis, with no goals.
The Tigers were scheduled to play at the Golden Window Classic in Lincoln, Nebraska, but St. Louis. Louis retired and created the Billiken Classic. Louis and LSU will meet with Saturday fans.
