Basabe acquired through the White Sox Giants on Sunday in exchange for a monetary consideration.
The 23-year-old booked for assignment through Chicago on Tuesday, but will now have a chance on San Francisco’s 40-man list. Basabe has been ranked among the Top 20 Most Sensitive White Sox Clients and is expected to achieve a similar ranking with its new team. It had a barline of Array246/.324/.336 in 69 games last season in Double-A and will report to the Giants’ choice practice site.
