Luis Diaz has given as transparent an indication as any about his long career at Liverpool amid rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona.

The 27-year-old Colombian has been at Anfield since January 2022, when Liverpool paid £37. 5 million, £12. 5 million in add-ons, to FC Porto for his services.

Since swapping Portugal for England, Diaz has scored 24 goals in 96 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s Array, winning the FA Cup and two League Cups with Kop so far.

This campaign has been his most prolific with Liverpool, having scored thirteen goals in 49 appearances in all competitions.

Spanish outlet Sport recently reported that Barcelona were interested in a transfer for Diaz, with an updated report suggesting the transfer would be “a hundred consistent with an unaffordable penny” for the Camp Nou side.

Barca’s financial turmoil has been well documented in recent seasons, with Xavi’s side sitting third in La Liga, twice second-placed Girona and 17-time Clasico champions and rivals Real Madrid.

The Herald even claimed that Barca president Joan Laporta had recently met with Diaz’s agent, but it is said that between €120 million and €140 million are needed to bring the Merseyside striker to Catalonia.

Diaz himself has now spoken about his long career at Liverpool, and has made it clear that he sees him at Anfield because he is “very happy” on Merseyside, which is to chill any suggestion of a move to Barcelona or the club.

Speaking to the club’s website, Diaz said: “You are getting more and more informed to be a professional, to be a better person, to be a teammate and a boy.

“The truth is that I’m very satisfied to be here. There are good years ahead for the club, I have no doubt.

“Personally, I’ll try to do my best, I’ll try to give 100 percent, stand out on the field, that’s what I came here to do. I am thankful to God for each and every one of them. opportunity. “

Diaz’s contract with Liverpool runs until the summer of 2027, so the ball is firmly in the Anfield club’s court if a team turns to the striker’s services.
