Luis Suarez and Arturo Vidal missed Ronald Koeman’s first attack in Barcelona

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has decided to leave Luis Suarez and Arturo Vidal of his own for his first match at the helm.

Both players have been connected with movements from Catalonia before the new season, and Suarez was followed by Serie A giants Juventus.

La Blaugrana won a 3–1 friendly at gimnastic in Tarragona in the third division, while Koeman sought to compare his characteristics as a striker for his first 2020–21 La Liga home match against Villarreal on 27 September.

Koeman covered two other groups to take part in Estadi Johan Cruyff’s clash, with a goal from Ousmane Dembélé and a penalty from Antoine Griezmann securing a 2–1 lead in part-time.

The second half team looked younger, with Iñaki Peña, Ronald Araujo, Jorge Cuenca, Riqui Puig, Trincao and Konrad of the Fuente angels all watching the action.

Philippe Coutinho’s return kicked to top off Koeman’s first victory.
