Maguire punished after being convicted of annoying assault, resisting arrest and repeated bribery attempts.
The 27-year-old defender plans to appeal the verdict, but England coach Gareth Southgate has decided to remove him from the squad for September games hours after naming him to the team.

“Taking into account the events tonight, I can verify that I have withdrawn Harry Maguire from the England team for the matches opposite Iceland and Denmark,” Southgate said on the FA website.
“As I said earlier today, I have reserved the right to review the situation. After speaking with Manchester United and the player, I have made this resolution in the best interests of all parties and contemplating affecting our arrangements for the coming week. Maguire, who has denied all charges, was arrested along with his brother Joe and his friend Christopher Sharman on Thursday after an altercation with police on the Greek island of Mykonos.
Maguire’s 21-month, 10-day criminal sentence suspended because it was a first offense and the fees were misdemeanors.
Back in England before trial, Maguire, who has become the world’s most beloved defender after his £ 80 million ($ 105 million) move from Leicester last year, released a statement in which he vowed to erase his decision some time after the guilty verdict.
“After today’s hearing, I have asked my legal team to notify the courts without delay that we are going to appeal,” Maguire said.
“I remain strong and self-assured in our innocence in this matter – in any case, myself, my circle of relatives and my friends are the victims. ” United center-back Maguire first convinced him of Southgate for the Nations League games after explaining his version of the incident to the England manager.
But Southgate had told the media earlier today that he would keep his features open if the stage replaced and he has little time separating Maguire from the team.
It remains to be noted whether Maguire will retain the United captain, although the club has issued a support for their star.
