MANCHESTER – On Wednesday, old friends gather around the lobster in Manchester.
What those friends are: the team that is the Maine Cabin Masters and the owner of the maine Shack dining place in Denver.
And because he’s at Kennebec Cabin Co. , the home of the Maine Cabin Masters, the public is also invited to the short-lived occasion on Western Avenue.
“We did it together, ” said Drew Ryan. ” I grew up with those guys. So I called them and told them I was going to town.
Ryan opened his place to Eat Maine-themed in Denver last year, giving the city on the rocky mountain front a share of New England life and food, adding lobster rolls, ready with new lobster shipped from Greenhead Lobster to Stonington, and whoopie cakes.
When Ryan and his associates were setting up their restaurant, Jared “Jedi” Baker, one of the cabin crew members, spent some time setting it up. Then Baker, Ashley Morrill and Ryan Eldridge traveled west for the grand opening.
Just a year ago, the Cabin Masters – Chase Morrill, Baker, Ashley Morrill, Eldridge and Matt “Dixie” Dix – started operating at Kennebec Cabin Co. in 915 Western Ave. His plans were to remodel the space and barn on 2 acres in a retail space and for occasions, where the program’s merchandise, broadcast on the DIY network and on HGTV, can be presented, as well as some of his traditional work. They also sought to be able to organize viewing parties for friends and fans.
But their long-term plans are more important.
In July, they implemented and received a liquor license from the city, allowing them to open a tasting room on the property. Woodshed Taproom offers beers and wines on tap, basically from Maine, and oysters from the Maine coast and live music. houses KG’s Curbside Grill food truck seven days a week.
On Monday, Eldridge said Manchester needed a position to have a beer and a bite to eat for a year, and attributes the popularity of the Maine Cabin Masters logo to elevating the concept at a time when other restaurants are suffering from the global coronavirus pandemic.
This week’s emerging occasion is new.
“We’re very excited, ” said Eldridge. ” It combines two strong Maine brands in our own territory. “
Ryan spent years applying to his father, the late Allen Ryan, who was president of the NorthCenter Foodservice Corp. food supplier, before moving west and finally opening Maine Shack.
In reaction to the pandemic, the fast and casual food place has a takeaway and delivery business with additional outdoor seating. For this reason, he said, Maine Shack was able to stay open.
He has now returned to Maine with some managers to his suppliers.
On Wednesday, he plans to prepare a limited menu of 3 types of lobster rolls, a roast beef sandwich on the north coast, his mother’s famous potato salad and whoopie cakes.
“It deserves to be a very smart moment,” he said. I’m excited to bring the Maine Shack back to Maine to see how it was received. “
The occasion was originally scheduled for five o’clock in the afternoon. until 8 p. m. , however, Eldridge said Monday that they added a few more hours to get it started at 3 p. m. to accommodate more people. The capacity is 100, so there can be a row.
