Man arrested for promoting narcotics after teen dies of overdose in Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif. – Oxnard police arrested a man on Friday after investigating the overdose death of a teenager in August.

Officers said a 16-year-old woman was discovered taking an overdose in an alley on the 1100th block of South J Street on August 18 and then died in the hospital.

Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s drug unit opened an investigation into overdose death and discovered that the woman had taken an overdose of Alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax.

Detectives eventually learned that a 22-year-old Oxnard boy was involved in the sale of Xanax, probably to the teenager.

On Friday, detectives tried to comply with a court order at the guy’s residence, the guy refused to open his door.

Officials said he then began throwing several bottles of Alprazolam (Xanax) into the toilet in an attempt to destroy the evidence.

Detectives broke into the site and arrested the man, continued to search for the place, and discovered a 17-year-old woman hiding in a locked bathroom.

It also detects a gigantic amount of alprazolam (Xanax), fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, packing equipment, a balance and money compatible with the sale of narcotics.

The guy was arrested for owning Xanax for sale, fentanyl and cocaine property for sale, marijuana property for sale, destruction of evidence and contribution to the crime of a minor. He was placed in the Ventura County jail on a $350,000 bail.

The 17-year-old woman passed on to her parents.
