John Aldridge believes that neither Manchester City nor Chelsea will be affected by a massive deduction of problems, as will Everton.
The Toffees earned an early 10-point deduction on Friday after breaching the Premier League’s monetary rules. The club’s leaders have shown that they will appeal the sanction, which has left them in the relegation zone.
Everton’s deduction of problems made City fans nervous. The European champions are the only other club charged through the Premier League for violating its currency regulations. They allegedly violated more than one hundred regulations between 2009 and 2018.
City have yet to figure out what punishment, if any, the Premier League intends to impose. Chelsea may also face scrutiny over reports of invoices relating to former owner Roman Abramovich, which were not collected through the Premier League.
However, Liverpool legend Aldridge, who has described Everton’s trouble deduction as “excessive”, believes neither City nor Chelsea will face Everton-style punishment. He believes clubs have enough monetary strength to keep the Premier League quiet.
“Everton were an easy target,” Aldridge told the Liverpool ECHO. “I don’t know how to rate it, so I guess it all depends on what happens in the future. We’ve all noticed what happened at Chelsea with Roman Abramovich or Everything at Man City: 115 accusations.
“Is it because the other groups continued to do well? Are the others among the six most sensible? Maybe it’s because Everton doesn’t have the money to fight. “
“City have unlimited amounts, Chelsea have unlimited amounts, so they’ve scared other people who have been looking to do it for years, delaying and delaying. . . Everton physically couldn’t do that, I’m sure they would. “with the same resources.

Aldridge believes the Premier League “took the easy way out by chasing Everton” but hopes it is fair. He added: “The league is under pressure to do anything and I’m waiting to see if they now follow suit, with this club in particular.
“I hope that equity will triumph in the end. If he’s smart enough for Everton, he’ll be smart enough for City and any other club as well. “
Some City fans fear they will be kicked out of the Premier League. Everton have lost 10 points for a single offence, but City are said to have committed 115 offences. Both cases are unprecedented, which means it’s hard to expect what’s happening. City were accused through the Premier League in February, a month before Everton.

As for Chelsea, it was already being investigated through the Premier League for alleged monetary violations, which were reported to the government through Todd Boehly’s consortium after completing the acquisition of the club from Abramovich in May 2022.
Now, a joint investigation by the Guardian and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism alleges that Chelsea made a number of other secret bills that could have violated currency rules. These allegations were made earlier this month.
