Manchester City striker Erling Haaland delivered a message on social media amid his lingering concerns.
The 23-year-old is expected to be out longer after doctors suggested he not exercise this week. Haaland hasn’t played since the first week of December and may now miss the rest of this month as well.
His absence against Newcastle on Saturday will be the ninth game he will miss through injury this season, three times more than the number of games he missed with knocks last year. He may also miss the FA Cup clash against Tottenham and the Premier League clash against Burnley.

Haaland posted a symbol on Instagram showing his mouth covered with a black mask, writing the caption: “Think outside the box. “Ironically, only two of the striker’s 50 Premier League goals have come from outside the box.
In the picture, Haaland has obviously sweated and appears to be in a gym, which is a sign of encouragement for City fans. He is expected to return to the organization’s education at next week’s mid-season camp in Abu Dhabi.
Haaland may return to competitive action at Brentford on Feb. 5, ahead of the home game against Everton on Feb. 10. The Blues will play the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 with FC Copenhagen 3 days after the candy match.
Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku returned to action against Huddersfield in last weekend’s 5-0 FA Cup tie although Manuel Akanji has been ruled out of the clash with Newcastle, joining John Stones in the physio room.
