Man United news: 24-year-old ‘makes decision to leave’ amid Saudi interest

The 24-year-old’s time at Old Trafford has been unforgettable so far, highlighted by a record 11 goals and five assists in 82 appearances in all competitions over the following two years.

Off-field unrest has also affected the winger, who accused several women of domestic violence last year, accusations he strongly denies while cooperating with police.

Erik ten Hag’s side paid Ajax a staggering £85m to lure Antony away from the Dutch giants in the summer of 2022, but it is understood that they are in a position to cut their losses in the existing window.

Manchester United have agreed that they will not get back any of the amount they paid for the signing of the South American, but his salary, estimated at £200,000 a week, may prove problematic.

As well as wild claims that Man United presented Antony to Barcelona in a deal for long-term target Frenkie de Jong, Saudi giants Al-Nassr have also been tipped with an interest.

Mentioned by the inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Middle Eastern powerhouses also have Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Otávio and Alex Telles, a former Manchester United player.

Al-Nassr had reportedly hoped to bring Raphinha up to their ranks from Barcelona, but after failing in that mission, they turned their attention to the former Leeds United player’s compatriot.

However, Football Insider claims that Antony will not join the Saudi Pro League and would reject any offer from Al-Nassr or any other club that comes his way.

The former Ajax star is said to still be determined to stay and make a call in the Premier League, a big offer could still twist Man United’s arm.

Antony still has 3 years left on his contract with the Red Devils, an extension is highly unlikely unless he makes a serious comeback in 2024-25.

Antony, who has been undecided for the Brazilian national team since the first allegations of domestic violence, has been at Ten Hag’s disposal all summer thanks to his Copa America snub.

The 24-year-old came off the bench in all three matches of the Red Devils, Real Betis, Liverpool and Arsenal American tour, and is expected to be in the squad for Saturday’s Community Shield clash against Manchester City.

However, Antony is expected to be among the FA Cup starters at Wembley, as Amad Diallo and the return of Jadon Sancho are prominent features on the right flank.

With the Red Devils likely to be missing a large number of players due to injury compared to Man City, Ten Hag has likely gained significant momentum ahead of the derby.
