Man Utd will sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain or Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, according to move expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils have begun the summer movement window with the addition of Dutch foreigner Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and young French central defender Leny Yoro from Lille.
And now, Erik ten Hag and INEOS have turned their attention to signing a new defensive midfielder with reports that they have “agreed terms” with PSG’s Ugarte.
Uruguay are said to be “interested in moving” to Old Trafford this summer and it has even been claimed that the move is “close to completion”.
However, there appears to be a hole in terms of valuation, with Man Utd lately unwilling to meet PSG’s asking value of £58m for Ugarte.
Romano insists that Man Utd are still very interested in Ugarte, but they are also getting Amrabat back after the Moroccan foreigner spent last season on loan at Old Trafford.
The Italian journalist wrote in his Caught Offside column: “Manchester United have had some talks with Monaco regarding the availability of players like Youssouf Fofana and Vanderson, but my view is that internally the biggest names Manchester United are discussing for The midfielders are Manuel Ugarte and Sofyan Amrabat.
“For Amrabat, they have not activated the acquisition option, but they have the option of discussing other situations with Fiorentina. And on Ugarte’s part, they are still in talks with Paris Saint-Germain, while they have an agreement with the player. I have heard that there has been continuous contact between Man United and PSG since June, no official accepts or rejects any offer – it is a constant discussion between the clubs. Ugarte remains on Man United’s list and said yes last week, so now it’s Manchester United’s turn. But like I said before, it would still take them a few days to spend a lot of money on Leny Yoro.
“Regarding Matthijs de Ligt, Bayern insist on €50 million, but United have to pay more as part of the structure, in addition to the guaranteed €50 million. De Ligt is still waiting for Manchester United and hopes to move , but right now the departures are very important for the Red Devils, so it may take some time to see what happens between the clubs.
“I also don’t want to say that this story also affects Jonathan Tah, who has a deal to sign for Bayern, but is waiting for De Ligt to leave as part of the dominoes, so let’s see what happens, but the Dutch defender is waiting and is hopeful. to sign up for Man United.
A report on Tuesday claimed that Man Utd were weighing up an attempt to hijack AC Milan’s agreement to sign Monaco defensive midfielder Youssouf Fofana.
According to Sky Sports, Italy now claim that Monaco have doubled their asking price for Fofana, and the Ligue Un aspect in the first place is not easy: €18m (£15m).
However, they now need €35m (£29. 4m) from Man Utd, Milan or whoever to buy the French foreigner this summer as interest in their player grows.
