Kylian Mbappé believes Paris Saint-Germain’s defeat in the Champions League to Manchester United is irrelevant before Wednesday’s clash with Istanbul Basaksehir, and accepts that enthusiasts expect more.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored a 2–1 victory in Paris last week, with a penalty from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford from any of the purposes opposed to his Side Anthony Martial.
This was noted as a little disappointed given that United started the season, while PSG would have hoped to begin their European crusade with a home win.
As such, PSG is already betting on catching up on Group H and will do so with turkish champions on Wednesday to launch their campaign.
Mbappé acknowledges that enthusiasts will need to see PSG improve this time, he does not believe that United’s defeat will increase the strain point on the team.
“Champions League matches, you have to win,” he told the club’s website. “Even if we had beaten Manchester United, it would still be equally important.
“We have to win. When you play here [on the PSG], you have to win. So, of course, after losing, other people will expect more from us, but the tension will be the same. “
“There’s tension when you play and it’s not going to replace the opposite of Istanbul. “
Mbappé expects a more productive exit in Turkey, having failed to locate a route contrary to United. In total, he made five shots opposed to the Premier League team, but two hit the target, the other three were blocked.
France fought Axel Tuanzebe, who controlled several last-minute tackles and clearings to deny Mbappé: it cleared the danger seven times in total.
