Burnley midfielder Sander Berge has reportedly “said yes” to Manchester United, and the Premier League giants are “preparing a tempting offer”.
Man Utd have already spent around £90m to sign Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro from Bologna and Lille respectively this summer, but are in the market for more additions.
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his new recruitment team sign Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich as they search for a new central midfielder.
The Red Devils intended to sign Uruguayan foreigner Manuel Ugarte in the first place, but they had to look the other way because PSG refuses to lower the sale price.
Instead, it has been advised that they simply point to Burnley star Berge as a less expensive alternative. However, they face a festival from a European giant in the race to point it out.
The central midfielder was linked with primary moves elsewhere before leaving Sheffield United to sign for Burnley for around £12m last summer.
Berge was one of Burnley’s most productive players in their relegation crusade in 2023/24 and that may well lead to his move to Premier League giants Man Utd.
According to our friends at TEAMtalk, Berge’s proposal to move to Man Utd has “taken a step forward” as the midfielder has “said yes” to moving to Old Trafford. A “tempting offer” for the Burnley star is also being “prepared”.
“TEAMtalk can now reveal that Man Utd are the latest to defeat Burnley’s Berge.
“We understand that the 26-year-old Norwegian foreigner has said yes to signing with Man Utd and as such private terms will be an issue.
“All eyes are now on Man Utd agreeing a transfer fee with the league club.
“Reports claim that Burnley are hoping to raise £30m, we have been told that Man Utd are preparing to offer a total value of £25m. This £25 million figure would come with the complementary component of the deal.
Former loanee Sofyan Amrabat has also been considered as an imaginable signing, but a report from HITC claims that he is close to “accepting a rival offer”. They explain.
“Amrabat is still waiting for Man United to return, a player who also worked with Erik ten Hag at FC Utrecht also opens the door to select destinations.
“HITC has been informed that Fenerbahce are in talks and are in a position to offer a deal to Amrabat.
“Now under former Old Trafford manager Jose Mourinho, the 27-year-old would welcome the chance to play under one of the most decorated head coaches in football history if a contract came his way from Istanbul. ” .
