Man Utd are already looking for Antony’s replacement as they take a look at the £43m former Real Madrid prodigy

MANCHESTER UNITED are eyeing former Real Madrid prodigy Takefusa Kubo for winger Antony.

Antony, 22, joined Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in 2022 for a whopping £85. 5m.

But he bitterly disappointed the Red Devils, scoring just 8 goals and offering 3 assists in 62 appearances.

He has yet to score a goal in 18 games this season.

And Ten Hag is already looking for a possible replacement for the former Ajax player: Man Utd sent scouts to keep an eye on Kubo at at least SEVEN events this season.

Japan Kubo, 22, spent 4 years at Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, before signing for Real Madrid in 2019.

He made it to Los Blancos’ first team, as the Spanish giants loaned him out to Mallorca, Villarreal and Getafe.

He left the Bernabeu for good before the season when Real Sociedad signed him for £5. 5m.

And he has been a revelation for the La Liga team, scoring 15 goals and providing thirteen assists in 67 games.

His impressive performances saw Napoli offer £26m in the summer, but Sociedad rejected the bid.

The club is in a strong negotiating position as the player has a contract until 2027.

It is understood they would accept a fee in the region of £43m for the winger – who predominantly plays on the right but can also be utilised as a No10.

Manchester United scouts have been present at several of his matches since the start of the new campaign, adding Sociedad’s goalless draw against Real Betis on Sunday, where he was named Man of the Match.

And it is understood that Man Utd will continue their progress.

To seal a deal, it is possible that Man Utd will simply offer Antony a loan deal as part of the signing deal for Kubo, who has 29 caps for his country.

Sociedad finished sixth in La Liga and won their Champions League organization ahead of Inter Milan, Benfica and RB Salzburg.
